News and Announcements
Updated May 23/20
Please be advised that the Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation continues to follow the Provincial Health Officer’s guidelines and recommendations regarding the prevention of the spread of COVID – 19.
In doing so, a decision has been made to close all outdoor sports facilities and cancel all organized use and outdoor sport facility permits up to May 30th, 2020.
As of today’s date, the City of Burnaby has confirmed the closure of recreational facilities, including sports fields, tracks, tennis and basketball courts and formal events in parks will be extended to Sept 5/2020. We continue to make these difficult decisions based on guidelines and reports provided by local and federal health authorities.
To all coaches: As we are all on hold – softball league organizations, park permits etc – Crosstown will also change some dates regarding fees…
A minimum of $600 will be required towards league fees for the 2020 season and due by TBA …. Fees can be paid by E-Interac or checks can be mailed or cash on a meetup.
- Any fees paid are fully refundable if the 2020 season does NOT happen!
As discussed there is still the possibility of a shortened season & playoffs…
Currently both Vancouver & Burnaby fields are closed.. . Vcr until at least May 31st … Burnaby “until further notice”….

Coaches: Playoffs: All playoffs are 2 game minimum…
All games are game time- default time. Coaches should print & keep schedule with them at games. Schedule will be on the web in Documents. (PDF files).
Rec B & C – There should be no need for the Flip-flop rule in the first round – time & light good .. and Home team does not bat if winning in the bottom of the last inning …. but it’s an umpire’s call due to dark/inclement weather..
at the top of the last inning, then Home team bats twice in a row… Umpire’s call…
Rec B – 6 teams advance to playoffs …. 2 pools RR …. Pool A (1st, 4th, 6th) & Pool B (2nd, 3rd, 5th) … semis & Finals best of 3 games (1st game first night, 2nd & 3rd (if necessary) 2nd night) Jul 29- Aug 8
Rec C – top 8 teams in each division C1 & C2 – Jul 29 – Aug 15th … 2 pools – Pool A (1st, 2nd, 7th, 8th ) & Pool B ( 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th) – 2 teams from each pool advance, 2 semis & Final all best of 3 … 1st game 1st night 2nd & 3rd if needed – on the 2nd night…
Rec D – All games at Strathcona Pk on Sunday Aug 11th .. Hopefully there will not be need for the Flip-flop rule in the first round unless time restraint. Then only if Visiting team ahead more than 6 runs at the top of the last inning… Home team bats twice .. Umpire’s call… in the semis & Final we just need a winner!
